Rebecca Walter’s research focuses on affordable housing, sustainable community development, and social equity. Emphasis is placed on applied research that can help shift housing policy in this country to promote the integration of housing opportunities for Americans at the lowest income levels. Her dissertation evaluated the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program and its impact on socioeconomic conditions in Qualified Census Tracts. All of Rebecca’s professional activities incorporate a deep interest in affordable housing solutions and the ways they can stabilize neighborhoods. This includes CLTs in particular. Rebecca is currently working with the South Florida Community Land Trust on several research and training initiatives in Broward County to expand affordable housing opportunities in the region.
