Policy Alert: HOME and CDBG Funding

On February 5th, the Administration announced that top line budget figures for President Obama’s 2015 fiscal year budget request to Congress will be released on March 4. These figures will set spending levels for HOME and CDBG programs, which have experienced cuts of 45% and 33% respectively since 2010.

The Network sent a letter to Secretary Shaun Donovan at HUD and Director Sylvia Mathews Burwell at Office of Management and Budget to request that HOME and CDBG funding be restored to 2011 levels of $1.6 Billion and $3.5 Billion.

The Network is also on the Advisory Board of Practitioners Leveraging Assets for Community Enhancement (PLACE), and over 50% of Network members are also members of PLACE. PLACE has also sent a letter to Secretary Donovan and Director Burwell, and they have signed onto letters from the National Council of State Housing Agencies and the Campaign for Housing and Community Development Funding urging increased funding for HOME and HUD programs.

Read the Network letter, as well as the PLACE letter & Information Sheet.
