Policy Alert: HUD Funding

Sign onto the letter to House and Senate Appropriations Committees urging them to increase funding for the Departments of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in FY14.

As background, House and Senate Appropriations Committees will soon decide how much FY14 funding each appropriations subcommittee will receive, including funding for the THUD subcommittee. This funding allocation for subcommittees, called the 302(b), will determine how much funding is available for HUD and DOT programs in FY14.

The FY13 THUD 302(b) allocation was 24% below the FY10 enacted level, even before sequestration. We are told by Congressional staff that the letter sent by advocates in FY13 made a positive impact on the amount of funding available to these departments, despite the nation’s current fiscal challenges.

The Network endorses this letter and asks all community land trusts, permanently affordable housing programs, and Network members to sign it by April 30.
