Policy Action Committee Meeting: October 2014
Thank you for attending the October Policy Action Committee Meeting on Equitable Taxation for Resale-Restricted Homes!
As housing values in communities across the country climb, so will their property taxes. Property taxation policies and practices have serious implications for the affordability of resale-restricted homes. What can we do to work with public officials to implement or modify policies so that residents are not burdened by paying taxes on tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars of value for which they will not see a return? Network members around the country have utilized different strategies to obtain equitable taxation on resale-restricted homes, including litigating, advocating for state legislation, and negotiating with local assessors. Practitioners shared their experiences and asses the benefits and challenges of various advocacy approaches.
